I just bought the Epson Perfection V300 Photo … and it’s awesome! 100% Linux compatible.
Here’s what you need to do to get it working:
Gentoo Linux
InstallĀ media-gfx/iscan-plugin-gt-f720 and then start iscan and it works.
OpenSuSE Linux
Go to http://avasys.jp/eng/linux_driver/ and get the V300 RPM package. I had to install libltdl3 to make it work. Then start iscan and it works.
zypper install libltdl3 yast2 --install iscan-2.24.0-4.x86_64.rpm yast2 --install esci-interpreter-gt-f720-0.0.1-2.x86_64.rpm
Again: Awesome!!!
If you want me to test the scanner on another Linux distro tell me, maybe I have time.

I don’t have access to a Debian machine, but I can test it on Ubuntu, if you’d like?
If you can try it on Debian, I’ll have no more doubts if to buy it
